Manchester United will be seeking to pile the pressure onto Tottenham Hotspur by adding another embarrassing defeat to their recent results.
With a new man in the dugout, as Daniel Levy scrambles for something to ease his issues, there is little expected to change in the four days since their 6-1 mauling at the hands of Newcastle United now that Ryan Mason is in charge.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have just booked their place in a second cup final of the season and will seek to solidify their spot in the top four with a win today against the vulnerable hosts.
The returning Spurs team will surely be greeted with disdain from the home support after such a performance, in which the players were forced to reimburse fans who had travelled. They were defensively anonymous, and whether it was down to the formation or not, the attitude throughout the whole squad was so toxic.
Of those who started for the Lilywhites, few stood out quite like Eric Dier for being a defensive liability. His 5.9 rating gave way to a 75% pass accuracy, as the versatile dud made just two tackles, via Sofascore.

However, that is not a new development, with the 29-year-old having played 358 games for the club, despite pundit Frank McAvennie claiming he was "awful" and "not good enough" back in 2021.
It seems the England defender remains around the starting squad regardless of form, so Erik ten Hag could seek to exploit this glaring weakness by unleashing the hulking Wout Weghorst on the Spurs liability.
How has Wout Weghorst played this season?
Having spent 120 minutes battling for a first goal that never came, it was not a day for the strikers on the weekend at Wembley. A 19-minute cameo for the Dutch forward only really allowed him to take a penalty in the shootout, which he scored, however, he always captures the imagination for his immense work rate despite his 6 foot 6 frame.
This combination of tireless pressing, which actually have led to him being branded a "pressing monster" by journalist Scott Saunders, alongside his unique physique will give Dier a huge headache tonight. The England international looks shaky at the best of times, but seldom has he come up against such a physical marvel who won't give him a moment's peace.
In turn, this will afford the creative assets around him space to pose the real danger, with Weghorst keen but often unable to get on the end of such chances.
Despite scoring only twice in a Red shirt, Ten Hag remains faithful to the £33k-per-week ace, outlining the positives his main marksman brings: "I think he has intelligence from positions, he is a very good anticipator.
“Of course I tell him to [help] linking up there, which he is also doing as a high striker. But in that position, [he is] linking up and getting in front of the goal when crosses are coming in. As for the rest, there is the defending part which he is also very good [at]."
Seeking to bully Dier into submission in the same way Alexander Isak did last weekend, but again with that touch of class that will knit everything together, Weghorst will hope to spearhead another embarrassing loss for the hosts tonight.
Under the ownership of controversial tycoon Fahrad Moshiri, Everton has developed a notoriously unwanted reputation as one of the country's worst-run clubs.
This is mainly attributed to their managerial merry-go-round and a series of inexplicably poor transfers that have left the club in monstrous debt and having ever lacked a strong spine on the pitch.
However, one signing that at the time was deemed a masterstroke was the unbelievable coup of James Rodriguez in the summer of 2020 from Real Madrid. The 31-year-old began his career in England in electric form, but the honeymoon quickly soured in yet another transfer flop for the Toffees.
Where is James Rodriguez now?
The 90-cap international rose to worldwide fame and stardom thanks to his ridiculous 2014 World Cup campaign. The imperious playmaker was in unstoppable form in Brazil and registered eight goal contributions in five matches, and received the Golden Boot as the tournament's top goalscorer.
The attacker narrowly missed out on the Golden Ball award as he came second to Lionel Messi, but even Argentine legend Diego Maradona argued that the Colombian was more deserving of the title than his counterpart.
This earnt the midfielder a £63m move to Real Madrid, where he was tipped to continue his exponential rise as one of the globe’s most elite technicians.
James-Rodriguez-Everton
But, his time in Spain was blighted by injury and inconsistency, and in his final season at Los Blancos, he only managed 14 appearances in all competitions and was deemed surplus to requirements.
Nevertheless, the then 29-year-old still remained a joyous prospect, just a player enveloped and overwhelmed by the humongous expectation of the Santiago Bernabeu faithful. So when Everton secured his services it sent shockwaves across the blue sections of Merseyside and a chance for the gift to revive his stuttering career.
Rodriguez began his debut season in England in formidable fashion, recording six goal contributions in his first six outings.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin heaped praise on the new signing in his early in the North West and said:
“He’s a top, top player. He’s a different level, he dictates games.”
But, the artist failed to appear in 15 of Everton’s Premier League matches and cut a frustrated, unmotivated, and anonymous figure by the end of the season.
Upon Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from the Toffees, Rafa Benitez was appointed as the new manager, but the Spaniard failed to develop any kind of rapport with Rodriguez, who swiftly left for Qatar.
A stint at Olympiacos then followed, but the former Monaco prodigy had his contract terminated with the Greek giant, to leave one of the world’s most revered forces in grave danger of slowly petering into irrelevancy. Irrespective of his quality, perhaps Everton let him go at just the perfect time.

Everton midfielder Tom Davies is likely to leave the club in the summer and seek a new challenge, according to journalist Paul Brown.
What's the latest news surrounding Tom Davies?
Davies is a Finch Farm youth product and has been at Everton since 2009; however, he is out of contract at the end of the campaign and has yet to agree an extension to prolong his stay at Goodison Park.
Toffees boss Sean Dyche has commented on the future of his stars, that will see their deals expire at the club this summer, as per The Liverpool Echo, stating: “Priorities not to do with contracts, but to do with what the team are doing. Getting the job done. That is going to be the main priority. We still have to look at the business behind that, of course, planning and preparation is always important, but there are certain things that go ahead quicker. The players are aware and in due course we will have chats. There has been some loose stuff but nothing heavy."
The 24-year-old has been a bit-part player for Everton this term, making 20 appearances across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.
As per The Daily Record, Davies was linked with a switch to Rangers in January; nevertheless, no move came to fruition and he instead remained on Merseyside as his side continue to fight for their Premier League status.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Brown believes that Everton would be 'happy to let' Davies go on a free transfer come the end of 2022/23.
Brown said: "So I think if Everton were to receive offers for Tom Davies of a certain level, I think they would be only too happy to let him go should that be what he wants to do.
"He only really is ever going to be a squad player at Goodison Park.”
Should Everton let Tom Davies leave Goodison Park on a free transfer?
Realistically, Everton need to refresh what has become a slightly stale squad in some positions and Davies is a replaceable figure in midfield, given that he hasn't been a regular starter this campaign.
The £25k-a-week ace has struggled to make an impact when on the field, as per WhoScored, earning an average rating of just 6.12/10 for his exploits, which is the lowest score of any Everton player in their squad regarding individual performances this season.
Everton midfielder Tom Davies involved in the Toffees' 3-1 defeat to Fulham at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
Last December, Davies spoke about his future in an interview with The Athletic, stating: “I love the club and the city, but ultimately I want to play games, whether that be at Everton or somewhere else."
On current evidence, the former England Under-21 international may end up being a summer casualty at Goodison Park as Blues boss Dyche begins to shape his squad ahead of next term.

Chelsea secured their first victory under interim manager Frank Lampard at the seventh time of asking with a 3-1 triumph over Bournemouth to lighten the mood among the club.
It ended the 44-year-old’s personal 10-match losing run in his 100th Premier League match in charge, and he said: “They should enjoy it, and we’re happy because when you don’t have that feeling for a while, it gradually knocks you down.
“That’s been tough. The only way to get through that is to fight and to work through it. In this period it will be a challenge to the players that will make them better and stronger as they go on.
“It’s important and today you saw individual performances in Badiashile, Gallagher, Madueke, and other players in the team that are big steps forward because they are individuals who will be a big part of Chelsea going forward. That’s a good sign.”
The Blues were in a rampant mood and scored three goals in a game this season for just the fourth time in all competitions, but it wasn’t an attacker who particularly caught the eye this afternoon.
Indeed, it was the imperious performance of Benoit Badiashile that generated wide acclaim on his return to the side.
How did Benoit Badiashile play against Bournemouth?
Strangely, the Frenchman had only started four of the last 11 top-flight fixtures, which was baffling when considering his strong start to his Chelsea career and the abject form of his teammates.
The former Monaco man was restored to the lineup at the Vitality Stadium and repaid his manager’s faith with an excellent showing of calmness, physicality and technique.
On the defensive side, the £90k-per-week star registered one clearance and two interceptions, as well as winning two ground duels and three aerial duels, as per Sofascore.
Benoit-Badiashile
This has led to sections of the media describing the titan as a “monster”.
On the ball, the centre-back was equally impressive, having recorded 107 touches, 86 accurate passes, six accurate long balls, and a successful dribble.
Then, to round off a tremendous display, he netted his first goal for the Blues when he calmly tapped home Hakim Ziyech’s inswinging free-kick.
This perfect showing reinforces his former coach Joao Tralhao’s viewpoint that he really is the “complete defender” – a perfectly curated blend of solidity and ability.
If Chelsea are going to finish as high up the table as possible, then Badiashile must be a regular starter.

Sarah Taylor, the England wicketkeeper, has opened up about the struggles with anxiety that have caused her to take an indefinite break from cricket.Taylor, 27, is widely considered one of the most talented women’s players in the game, but has struggled for form in recent months, not least during the World T20 in India in March, when she made 49 runs at 9.80 in five matches.Speaking to the BBC, Taylor conceded that she was undergoing cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in a bid to rid herself of a disorder that has dogged her life in recent years, and sometimes resulted in such acute panic attacks that she had to run off the field to be sick.”For the past four years I’ve been suffering with anxiety, and obviously it’s my health and my health is my first priority,” Taylor said. “It was starting to affect my performance in cricket but taking time out is a way of trying to fix me as a person and to prolong my career.”Like anyone, if your performance drops you have the capacity to get dropped [from the team]. I didn’t want to allow it to affect my performance so much that that happens, and if I can fix myself off the field I can prolong my career.”It happened mainly when I was about to bat, that expectation of wanting to score runs. The nerves would hit me, but it would be nerves plus something else, and I was always confused as to what it was. It was a genuine kind of panic, the heart races, you feel faint, there have been times I’ve had to run off into the changing room and be sick through sheer panic.”The initial news of Taylor’s break came just days after Charlotte Edwards stood down from her ten-year role as England women’s captain, following pressure from the head coach, Mark Robinson, for a renewed emphasis on youth and fitness in a squad that has stagnated in recent years.More recently, another of Taylor’s long-term team-mates, Lydia Greenway, announced her retirement from international cricket in the wake of the team’s disappointing showing at the World T20.They exited at the semi-final stage following defeat against Australia, and have not won a major global title since 2009. Heather Knight, Edwards’ vice-captain, was last week confirmed as the team’s new captain.Taylor took a four-month break from cricket in 2010, missing an Ashes tour in the process, but returned to the sport to become the leading wicketkeeper-batsman in the world. She cannot yet put a time-frame on her return, and looks set to miss not only England’s home international summer but the inaugural Kia Super League as well. However, she says she is “99 percent” sure she will be back to resume a career that has made her an icon of the women’s game.”It’s a case of talking through my struggles on my day-to-day basis, and my thought processes. I’ll have little activities to tick off in my personal life, then I can look to the cricket side of things. Unfortunately my cricket has to come second.”I would like to say that I am 99 percent sure that I will play again,” she added. “I want to put an England shirt back on and train with the girls, I miss them terribly. I will do everything in my power to become healthy, but I can’t say that that’s going to happen. But in a positive way, I want to play cricket again and I hope to be back.”
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has “every club in the entire world” trying to steal him away from Turf Moor, according to former NFL star and new Clarets investor J.J. Watt.
Will Vincent Kompany leave Burnley?
The Belgian only arrived in the Championship back in July 2022, but having achieved promotion to guide his team back to the top-flight at the first time of asking, has been attracting significant interest in recent weeks.
Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea were both reportedly interested in securing the 37-year-old’s services in their hunt to find a permanent coach, with Manchester City even earmarking him as a potential boss for the future, as per Sky Sports. However, this outside speculation of an exit was soon put to bed after the former centre-back put pen to paper on a new five-year contract which keeps him in Lancashire until at least 2028.
Speaking on the Pardon My Take podcast on Monday, Watt, who recently bought a stake in Burnley alongside his wife Kealia, an ex-USA Women's international, dropped an intriguing comment on just how badly teams want to steal Kompany away. He said:
“Our coach is pretty good. I’m trying to knock his value down because every club in the entire world is trying to take him away from us right now. Everybody is trying to take him and he’s been very loyal.”
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany.
Will Burnley stay up?
Burnley not only getting promoted back to the Premier League but also securing the Championship title ten points clear of rivals Sheffield United was a result of Kompany’s tactics and instant impact on the squad, so the hierarchy offering him a fresh deal was nothing less than he deserves.
The Clarets boss won 34, drew 15 and lost just five of his 54 games in charge, averaging 2.17 points per match, via Transfermarkt, and this consistent run of form has seen him receive bundles of praise from journalist Josh Bunting. Taking to Twitter, he said:
“I think that’s the most impressive thing about what Vincent Kompany has done, he’s changed their culture and play style and the players bought right into it. The transition was excellent, really looking forward to seeing what they can go and do in the top flight under him.”
Kompany, whose preferred formation is a 4-2-3-1, will no doubt already be underway with his transfer plans for the upcoming summer window as he looks to recruit fresh faces to help maintain his team’s status next season, but should they replicate the same high standard of performance as this term, Burnley should have no worries during the 2023/24 campaign.
