This time around, Ten Hag’s side were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stages, are outside of the top four and only have the FA Cup as a last chance of silverware.
Due to the club’s poor form, there have been plenty of rumours about Ten Hag’s long-term future in charge of United, with Richard Keys even calling him ‘Erik ten Toast’.
A number of managers have been linked to come in and replace Ten Hag following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival, including Zinedine Zidane and Julian Nagelsmann. Zidane is thought to be the dream target for United, whereas Nagelsmann is thought to be the main candidate to come in.
Meanwhile, The Manchester Evening News have stated that Ratcliffe is "not completely sold" on Ten Hag and is looking at a possible change in the long run after 15 defeats in all competitions this season. Brighton coach Roberto de Zerbi is another understood to be of interest at Old Trafford, and Romano has reacted to these claims.

Speaking to Give Me Sport in the last 48 hours, Romano responded to the rumours of Ten Hag’s uncertain future, saying that Ratcliffe and INEOS are “giving Ten Hag time and space”.
"My understanding remains that there is nothing concrete to these kinds of stories – Man United are giving Ten Hag time and space to develop his football and his ideas, he also confirmed a very good relationship with INEOS. He has to keep going at the best level in the next three months, that’s obviously important. I’m sure in this time we’ll continue to have many stories about this, but for now, nothing is happening."

Should the Red Devils finish outside the top four and miss out on winning the FA Cup, with rivals Liverpool up next in the quarter-finals, then perhaps Ratcliffe could look to make a change.
However, until then, it looks as if the Dutchman’s immediate position as manager is safe, with Wednesday’s late FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest now looking crucial.

It's no major surprise that big-money moves could be possible out of Everton this summer, given their need to balance the books after two FFP charges. If the Toffees do drop down from the Premier League, they will be left with no choice but to sanction the sale of a number of key players. There is one player who Dyche isn't exactly desperate to keep, however.
According to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider, Mason Holgate no longer has a future at Everton whilst Dyche is in charge. The defender is currently on loan at Sheffield United and made the headlines for the wrong reasons last time out when his horror tackle on Kaoru Mitoma resulted in a red card inside 13 minutes.
Holgate's loan spell is his second of the season, having failed to earn a place in Russell Martin's Southampton side on a consistent enough basis earlier in the campaign, before being recalled by Everton and sent to the Blades.

Holgate's Everton career has taken a downward dive in recent years, having initially got off to a promising start after completing a move worth a reported £2m in 2015. 18-years-old at the time, Holgate is now 27 and may look back on what might have been in Merseyside, with his time at Everton seemingly destined to come to an end.

Pouco tempo depois do susto, o Coritiba tentava provar novamente o seu poderio ofensivo. E conseguiu. Valdemir, aos 28 minutos, recebeu uma bola de Rafinha, o volante chutou da área, desviou na defesa adversária e entra para o gol.
Depois do gol, o jogo ficou mais equilibrado. Juninho bate a falta que passa perto do travessão do goleiro Wilson, que ainda subiu para afastar ainda mais do gol curitibano.
Segundo tempo Foi a partida recomeçar para o Coritiba ampliar. O Coritiba conseguiu um escanteio no primeiro minuto da partida. Após a cobrança, o goleiro Renan, do Paraná, saiu errado e a bola acabou sobrando para Wellingnton desviar de cabeça e marcar para a equipe mandante.
Ainda no começo da última etapa o Coritiba fez mais um. Em um belo passe de Rafinha, Igor Paixão recebe na área e tirou do goleiro Renan, aos 5 minutos do segundo tempo.
Pelo lado do Paraná, após ver o placar ampliar cada vez mais não restava outra coisa. Teve que partir para o ataque, fez algumas alterações, mas, de nada adiantou.
O Coritiba ainda queria mais. Em um contra-ataque, com a defesa adversária desestabilizada, Léo Gamalho faz passe para Cerruti, que dominou e depois chutou para as redes, aos 28 da última etapa.
Antes do juiz apitar o fim da partida, deu tempo do Coritiba fazer mais um. Após uma bola errada do Paraná, sobrou para o Cerutti mandar um chute de longe sem chances para o goleiro tricolor.

Charlotte Edwards and Mahela Jayawardene have been appointed as the head coaches for the Southampton-based teams for The Hundred.Jayawardene is the sixth coach to have his appointment confirmed for the tournament for a men’s team. Out-going England coach questions ‘whether the county game is producing the players we need’

Trevor Bayliss believes a reduction in the number of first-class counties could help England bridge the “huge gap” between county and international cricket.Victory at The Oval ensured England maintained their unbeaten home series record in Test cricket under Bayliss’ five seasons as head coach, though he will probably be remembered best for coaching the side to their maiden World Cup victory earlier in the year.But in a wide-ranging exit interview with ESPNcricinfo, Bayliss has questioned “whether the county game is producing the players we need” and suggested a reduction in the number of teams from 18 to ten in a bid to improve the quality of competition. He also feels the quality of county pitches must improve if developing players are going to be given the best opportunity to prepare for the higher level.”You have to ask whether the county game is producing the players we need,” Bayliss said. “Is the competition underneath [the England team] doing the job it should be? There’s a huge gap between county and international cricket. Huge.”Again and again, we’ve picked the best players in the county game. And again and again, they’ve found the gap too large to bridge. Our top players come back from county cricket and they’re not complimentary about the standard. They don’t think it helps prepare them for international cricket.”The pitches are soft and damp. So bowlers get far too much assistance and batsmen don’t get into the habit of building long innings. Those same bowlers then come into Test cricket and they find the pitches do almost nothing and the ball won’t swing round corners. And the batsmen find the pace of the Test bowlers a shock.”If you had better pitches – pitches that offered less to bowlers – you might start to see some fast bowlers developing. You might see more spinners developing. You might even see some better slip catchers because I think the big problem in English cricket is concentration. Players have forgotten how to concentrate for long periods of time. They just don’t have to do it at county level.”I’m not criticising groundsmen. They have a tough job, because there’s too much cricket and the Championship starts in early April.”But no one seems to want to get their head down and guts out a score. The attitude seems to be, ‘I’d best get on with it before an impossible ball comes along.’ But maybe that’s partly because society has changed. Everything is quicker now.”The ECB and the counties have to pull in the same direction. There has to be a collaborative approach ensuring that England is at the heart of it. Ultimately, a successful England team, across all formats, will naturally benefit the game at county level and even have a positive impact on grassroots.”I think there are too many teams. If you had fewer – maybe ten – the best players would be in competition against each other more often and the standard would rise. I think you’d see tougher cricketers develop. Cricketers who are better prepared for the Test game.Bayliss also expressed his incredulity over counties offering stints to overseas players who will, later in the same season, use that experience in Test series against England. Marnus Labuschagne, for example, prepared for the Ashes by representing Glamorgan and adapted to conditions so well that he finished the series as Australia’s second-highest run scorer.”I find it incredible that Marnus Labuschagne, Peter Siddle, Cameron Bancroft, James Pattinson and the like are invited over to play county cricket ahead of an Ashes series,” he says. “There’s no way Australia would allow England players to acclimatise in the Shield ahead of an Ashes series. And quite right, too. I think the ECB should have a look at that.Bayliss he suggested there should be more knockout cricket at age-group level to help prepare players for high-intensity moments in the professional game. “Australian cricketers are tough and robust. Celtic decided to back Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market last summer as they brought the manager back for a second spell at Parkhead.
They then snapped up nine new recruits to bolster his squad. Maik Nawrocki, Gustaf Lagerbielke, Odin Thiago Holm, Paulo Bernardo, Hyun-jun Yang, Hyeok-kyu Kwon, Nat Phillips, Marco Tilio, and Luis Palma all came through the door.
The Northern Irish head coach was then provided with two more signings in the recent January transfer window as Nicolas Kuhn arrived on a permanent deal from Rapid Wien and Adam Idah joined on loan from Norwich City, with no option to make it permanent.

There have also been exits under Rodgers and the squad was trimmed before the deadline of the most recent window passed at the start of last month.
David Turnbull and Yosuke Ideguchi were both sold, to Cardiff City and Vissel Kobe respectively, whilst Tilio, Kwon, and Mikey Johnston were all sent out on loan.

Football Scotland reported that the Championship side splashed out a fee of £2m to secure the Scottish central midfielder's services on deadline day.
His contract with Celtic was due to expire at the end of the current season. This meant that the January transfer window was their last chance to cash in before potentially losing him for nothing in the summer.
The move came after the 24-year-old dud had failed to establish himself as a regular starter for the Hoops during the first half of the season.

Turnbull started nine times in the Scottish Premiership under Rodgers and scored seven goals, with three of those coming from the penalty spot, in 16 league outings in total.
Celtic signed the young midfielder from Motherwell in the summer of 2020 and he went on to enjoy a decent, if unspectacular, career in Glasgow.
The Scotland international racked up 31 goals and 23 assists in 134 appearances for the Hoops in all competitions across three-and-a-half-years at the club, which shows that he did offer a threat at the top end of the pitch as a scorer and a creator of goals.
One of his best seasons in a Celtic jersey came during the 2020/21 campaign playing as a number ten for Neil Lennon, prior to Ange Postecogou's arrival in the summer of 2021.

As you can see in the table above, the Scottish gem, who Frank McAvennie claimed offered something "different" to the team, made a big impact in the final third, particularly with his creativity, as an attacking midfielder.
However, he then only started 26 league games in two seasons under Postecoglou and then never found a regular place in the team under Rodgers either.
His current form for Cardiff now suggests that Celtic and the Northern Irish head coach played a blinder with his sale as they raked in £2m for a player who is now struggling, and worse than Johnston, who is in the same league with West Bromwich Albion.

As you can see in the table above, it was a frustrating afternoon for the Scottish midfielder as he did not make any impact at the top end of the pitch.
The former Motherwell starlet's selling point at Celtic was that he could contribute with goals and assists, as shown by his aforementioned statistics, but that has not been the case for him so far in Wales.

In seven Championship appearances, Turnbull has not scored a single goal and provided just one assist for his teammate – that solitary goal involvement coming in the recent win over Bristol City.
These statistics suggest that Rodgers hit the jackpot by selling him to the Bluebirds as the Celtic fringe player has struggled badly in English football so far.

Whereas, his former teammate Johnston has thrived in the second tier of football in England since his move on loan to West Brom on deadline day.
The 24-year-old whiz had only started three Premiership matches for Celtic before his temporary exit and chipped in with two goals and two 'big chances' created.

As you can see in the table above, Johnston has significantly outperformed Turnbull in the Championship for West Brom with his quality as an attacking force for his temporary club.
Both players are attack-minded players who look to make an impact in the final third, with goals and assists, but only one of the former Celtic teammates have been successful in doing so, as it stands.
Therefore, Rodgers played a blinder with his decision to sell Turnbull yet loan out Johnston as the former has struggled badly and is currently a worse option at Championship level than the latter.
Hopefully, this trend will continue and the Hoops will look on at the £2m they received for the Scotland international as great business, whilst the Irish whiz returns to compete for a first-team spot next season after an impressive spell on loan in England.
