Arteta appears to prefer the trio out wide, perhaps motivating the Hale End recruitment team to scour the market for new central defensive additions. Arsenal are reportedly considering talks to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace as one transfer target, coming amid his stellar campaign for England at Euro 2024.
Guehi has been one of the plus points of an otherwise underwhelming tournament for the Three Lions so far, and is likely to be the subject of intense interest after Gareth Southgate's side conclude their time in Germany.

Now, as well as Kounde, it is believed Edu and the recruitment team are interested in doing a deal for young Barca centre-back Mikayil Faye.
That is according to HITC, who claim Arsenal have contacted Barcelona over signing Faye and could hijack FC Porto. Vitor Bruno's side have apparently agreed terms with the Senegal international, but are yet to shake hands on a deal with Laporta.
Barca's president and the La Liga heavyweights are asking for under £20 million for him, around £12 million, plus a buy-back clause of similar value. Porto appear unwilling to go that high, which has opened the door for Arsenal who have now asked Barca about Faye.
The 19-year-old gem made 35 appearances in all competitions for Barca's B team last season, even managing four goals, and he is said to be keen on leaving for a fresh opportunity playing top-flight football.

Until now.It was bound to happen at some point, given the ruthless, relentless T20 machine they have turned themselves into, and IPL 2020 will conclude with the Mumbai Indians looking to win their fifth title, and become the second team – after the Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and 2011 – to win back-to-back titles. They have been the best team in the competition this year by pretty much any metric you can think of, but it’s both the charm and the flaw of a league-cum-playoff competition that the best team won’t necessarily get their hands on the trophy.It’s a year of bubbles, and the Delhi Capitals have floated on one that’s come close to bursting on a few occasions, but they have evaded the jagged outcrops and reached the final for the first time. Strategy punt With Hardik not bowling at all this season, the Mumbai Indians’ one real weak link has been the lack of a genuine sixth bowling option. This means they haven’t always been able to shield Krunal’s left-arm spin from the opposition’s left-hand batsmen, and the Capitals have a wealth of those to use against Krunal and the legspinner Rahul Chahar. It’s imperative that these left-handers – Shikhar Dhawan, Shimron Hetmyer, Pant and Axar Patel, who could be used as a pinch-hitter – go hard against Krunal and Chahar, and maximise their returns from their overs. To be able to do this, however, the Capitals would need to minimise the damage they suffer in the powerplay. Boult has more powerplay wickets this season than anyone else, and five of his 14 wickets in that phase have come against the Capitals. Bumrah also has two powerplay wickets against the Capitals. It might be worthwhile for them, therefore, to bat slightly within themselves in this phase – unless they are chasing a big target, of course – and go hard against the spinners when they come on. There is a case for the Mumbai Indians to bowl their spinners early, to minimise their exposure to the left-handers in the Capitals middle order, and also to target Stoinis, whose IPL record against spin (average 26.08, strike rate 123.71) is significantly worse than his record against pace (32.00, 147.55). How the Capitals use R Ashwin could be one of the key tactical questions of the final. Ashwin has excellent IPL numbers against Sharma (79 runs off 95 balls, two dismissals), de Kock (68 off 56, four dismissals) and Kishan (27 off 31, no dismissals), and while Pollard has scored 51 runs off the 34 balls he has faced from the offspinner, he’s also been dismissed four times. The Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, would like to have Yadav at the crease when Ashwin is on. That head-to-head has brought 72 off 51 balls, and no dismissals in eight meetings.Stats that matter Mumbai are the most successful IPL franchise and the Capitals have only just made their first final, but you wouldn’t have been able to tell that from their head-to-head record, which was 12-12 at the start of the season. Mumbai have pulled away since then with three wins on the bounce. One finalist has had a 3-0 record against the other in each of the three previous IPL seasons. The Mumbai Indians overcame their losing streak against the Rising Pune Supergiant to win the 2017 final, while the Chennai Super Kings made it 4-0 over the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018 and the Mumbai Indians made it 4-0 over the Super Kings last year. Kagiso Rabada currently wears the Purple Cap with 29 wickets, but Bumrah is close on his heels with 27. If he scores 68, Dhawan will overtake KL Rahul’s tally of 670 runs and end the season with the Orange Cap. Four Mumbai Indians batsmen – Kishan (29), Hardik (25), Pollard (22) and de Kock (21) – have hit at least 20 sixes in IPL 2020. No Capitals player has reached that mark, with Stoinis (15) their most frequent boundary-clearer.) Stoinis has scored 352 runs and taken 12 wickets this season. He’s one of only 12 allrounders to complete the 350-10 double in an IPL season. Hardik and Andre Russell did it last year, and Sunil Narine in 2018.

According to a recent report from the Sun, Manchester United are set to go to 'war' with Premier League rivals Arsenal over Ajax striker Brian Brobbey this summer with clubs 'confident' of sealing a transfer.
The report has claimed that the exciting forward would cost the clubs around £30m and that Ten Hag has been 'eyeing' the 22-year-old as he knows the player from his time with the Amsterdam outfit.
Alongside the two English sides, the report has revealed that a host of teams from Italy are keen on securing the forward's signature this summer, although he would prefer a move to the Premier League.
It could be a complicated deal to get over the line with all the outside interest, but given his performances last season and the relatively affordable price, it looks like one worth pursuing, especially as he could be a better option than Zirkzee.
How Brobbey compares to Zirkzee
Now, the ideal situation for United is that they can acquire both strikers, meaning that, along with Rasmus Hojlund, Ten Hag would have access to a plethora of effective attacking options.
However, if that's not possible, who out of Brobbey and Zirkzee would be the better purchase for the Red Devils? Well, from a pure output perspective – the most important metric for a striker – it's a comfortable victory for the Ajax star.
In just 43 appearances for the Dutch giants last season, he scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 1.26 games for a side that just about limped into fifth place.
In contrast, the Bologna star found the back of the net on 12 occasions in 37 matches while also providing seven assists, which equates to a goal involvement every 1.94 games.
How do they compare when we look at their underlying numbers? Is it another comfortable victory for the Amsterdam-born forward here as well? Indeed, and by quite some margin at that.

The above is what Dambulla Viiking captain Dasun Shanaka had to say on the eve of his team’s semi-final against Jaffna Stallions.Shanaka has been a long-time supporter of starting up Sri Lanka’s own T20 league, having publicly requested one during a tour of Pakistan last year. He felt this edition of LPL was not without its flaws; he would have preferred an IPL-style playoff system, rather than the more traditional semi-finals. But he said the league had helped not only highlight talent, but also bridge the large gap between domestic and international cricket for many players.”This tournament is vital to our cricket future,” Shanaka said. “We are getting a look at cricketers that we otherwise wouldn’t now. What was happening is that we were judging players from their international performances, but we were putting inexperienced players into international cricket. But once they play a tournament like this, they know what to expect at international level. That’s the most important thing we can get from future editions of this tournament as well.”Shanaka’s batting has been among Viiking’s greatest assets during the tournament, with him sitting third on the run-scorers’ list, a tournament tally of 273 and a strike rate of 164 to his name. He has taken four wickets with the ball as well. Even this kind of performance doesn’t guarantee him a spot in Sri Lanka’s T20 XI, though, as there are at least three other seam-bowling allrounders contending for places – Thisara Perera, Isuru Udana and Angelo Mathews. Of those, Thisara has had a good tournament with the bat, and Udana has had his moments as well. For Shanaka, this is exactly the kind of competition for places the LPL should create.”There should be pressure on spots in the Sri Lankan team. That Angelo is bowling again is a big bonus for our national team. That competition for spots should be there for us to do well in international cricket. I want to be in the national team, but let’s see what the future is like. Maybe I will get more opportunities, and I’m hoping I’ll do well.”On Monday’s semi-final in particular, Shanaka felt neutralising the opposition’s best player would be key to Viiking’s batting performance. Stallions’ legspinner Wanindu Hasaranga is the league stage’s most-successful bowler, with 13 wickets and an outstanding economy rate of 5.48 across his 29 tournament overs. Some teams have attempted to hit him out of the attack, but largely failed. Viiking will go in another direction, Shanaka said.”Wanindu is Sri Lanka’s No. 1 spinner and he’s bowling really well at the moment. If we can just get 24 runs off his 24 balls without giving him any wickets, we can score off the other bowlers and balance it out. His strength is that he gets wickets, and gets two or three really quickly. When that happens our run rate decreases. So we have to work out how to play him without giving him wickets.”

Vishwa Fernando has warned that Sri Lanka’s attack is ready to tear in again and give South Africa “a good challenge”, if their remaining batsmen can muster a fourth-innings target worthy of the name.Vishwa claimed his maiden Test five-for as Sri Lanka triggered a collapse of 9 for 84, after South Africa had been in a position of strength at 218 for 1. Sri Lanka’s captain, Dimuth Karunaratne, then led the way with the bat, finishing on 91 not out, as Sri Lanka edged into a lead with six second-innings wickets still standing.”This is a pitch that helps the seamers, and if you bowl good areas then it definitely helps you,” Vishwa said. “I think if we get another 200-250 runs ahead, we’ll be able to give them a good challenge, with our attack.”We had a simple plan. We cut down runs and built pressure. We talked about that at the drinks break in the first session [before which South Africa had scored 68 runs without loss]. That’s our simple plan. We had assistance.”Tomorrow’s first session is decisive. If Dimuth aiya and [Niroshan] Dickwella bat well and stay in the game, they’ll give us a good chance.”Vishwa played an instrumental role in Sri Lanka’s 2-0 win in South Africa two years ago, taking 12 wickets across two Tests as well as keeping Kusal Perera company during their extraordinary one-wicket victory in Durban, and said he had fallen back on the knowledge he had gained after claiming career-best figures.”That previous experience in South Africa was really helpful. I’m bowling to a lot of the same South Africa batsmen. We knew what their strengths were. It was a big advantage to have done well here before.”
