Aston Villa: Fans react to Kortney Hause update

Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause is set to pen a new deal at Villa Park until 2025.

That’s according to reliable reporters Tom Collomosse and Mike McGrath, and, as to be expected, a number of Villa fans have been giving their thoughts to the news on social media.

Hause’s current contract is set to expire in the summer, however, he looks to extend that after Axel Tuanzebe cut his loan spell shirt earlier this month.

Steven Gerrard has just three senior options at centre-back in Hause, Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa, with the former of the three making six Premier League appearances this season.

He is in line to start against Everton on Saturday should Konsa miss out due to injury, says, Collomosse, labelling a new deal as ‘imminent’.

Villa fans react

@villareport shared the news regarding Hause on Twitter. This is what these supporters had to say in reply, with many buzzing and one labelling it as ‘great news’.

West Ham: Romano drops Cabral update

West Ham United have been dealt a blow in their bid to bring Arthur Cabral to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a claim made by Fabrizio Romano, with the transfer insider revealing in a recent post on Twitter that Fiorentina have made an offer totalling £13.5m regarding a deal for the FC Basel centre-forward, with the Serie A side hoping to land the 23-year-old as a direct replacement for Dusan Vlahovic – who looks set on a move to Juventus.

Previous reports had suggested that West Ham were also one of the clubs keeping a very close eye on the situation of the Brazilian ahead of a potential swoop in the winter market, however, it would now appear as if David Moyes could miss out on the striker.

In his tweet, Romano said: “Fiorentina have submitted an opening bid to Basel in order to sign Brazilian striker Arthur Cabral. €14m guaranteed plus €2m bonuses. Arthur Cabral is the main option for Fiorentina in case Dusan Vlahovic deal with Juventus will be completed in the coming hours.”

West Ham must now act

Considering the fact that West Ham are in desperate need of greater depth at centre-forward, in addition to the fact that Cabral has been in exceptional form for Basel this season, it would appear extremely wise for Moyes to at least launch a matched bid for the 23-year-old in the coming days.

Indeed, over his 18 Swiss Super League outings in the current campaign, the £13.5m-rated hitman has already bagged an astonishing 14 goals, provided four assists and created four big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 4.2 shots and making 1.2 key passes per game.

These returns have seen Cabral average a highly impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.49, ranking the 23-year-old as the second-best player in the entirety of the Swiss league.

The former Palmeiras centre-forward has also scored a further five goals over his six appearances in the Europa Conference League, returns which have seen the 23-year-old average another extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.35.

As such, considering just how prolific the striker quite clearly is in the final third, West Ham’s lack of any depth in a central attacking role and the extremely reasonable fee the forward appears to be available for this month, Moyes and his transfer team simply must launch an offensive for the Brazilian in the very near future – before it is too late.

Journalist drops Dybala to Liverpool update

As per 90min reporter Jack Gallagher, breaking news on Twitter, a big transfer update has emerged involving Liverpool and Paulo Dybala.

The Lowdown: Liverpool linked with Dybala…

Even beyond the January transfer window, reports have linked the soon to to be out-of-contract Juventus star with a Bosman move to Anfield.

Indeed, TUTTOmercatoWEB recently claimed that Dybala is a transfer target for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, with club chiefs even expected to fly out for Italy for a summit ‘as early as February’.

Out of contract at the end of this season, the Argentine certainly won’t be short of suitors, with 90min reporter Gallagher now sharing what he knows involving Liverpool.

The Latest: Liverpool ‘offered’ Dybala…

As per his sources, FSG have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign Dybala after the January transfer window alongside the likes of Man City, Tottenham, Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

It is also believed that the 28-year-old’s entourage are ‘due to fly around Europe’ for negotiations with these and other clubs ‘in the coming weeks’.

The Verdict: Get it done?

The £222,000-per-week star would command a hefty salary and investment when it comes to personal terms, but his ability to play as both a centre-forward or second striker could make his prospective signing worth it.

Having scored a career total 140 goals, along with 62 assists, Dybala is proven in the final third and has only just reached the prime of his career.

The South American has also been hailed by English football pundits, with former Premier League keeper Paul Robinson previously branding Dybala a ‘world class’ and ‘phenomenal’ player (Football Insider).

From Italy: Brozovic to Spurs latest

According to a report in the paper edition of La Repubblica, via FC Inter1908.it, an update as emerged on Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Inter Milan ‘playmaker’ Marcelo Brozovic.

The Lowdown: Spurs eye move…

The Croatia international, who shone under Antonio Conte in a new number 10 role for Inter Milan last season, has reportedly been on Tottenham’s radar in recent months as Spurs’ head coach eyes a reunion.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-news-copy/” title=”Tottenham latest developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

However, the general consensus is that Brozovic is more than likely to sign a contract extension with Inter as the clock runs down on his current San Siro deal.

Described as a player ‘considered by all to be irreplaceable’ for Nerazzurri boss Simone Inzaghi, they are apparently very eager to cement his Serie A stay, but La Repubblica say Spurs are lurking in the background.

The Latest: Tottenham eyeing situation…

The newspaper (via FCInter1908.it) claim both the Lilywhites and Manchester United are ‘watching the progress of negotiations’ over his potential new Inter contract – seemingly ready to pounce if there’s any twists.

While Inter chiefs hope to ‘announce’ his renewal ‘within 10 days’, the report states that Brozovic also has an offer from Barcelona which could be tempting as Inzaghi and the Italian side’s fans ‘hold their breath’ for his new deal.

The Verdict: Hoping for a twist…

It’s safe to say the 29-year-old could be an asset for Conte at Spurs going by his performances under the Italian last season and the fact Fabio Paratici could sign him for free if there’s no contract announcement.

Tottenham could certainly be hoping for that outcome as they would avoid paying a figure in and around his £36 million estimated valuation (Transfermarkt), whilst also bolstering Conte’s options.

Of course, this entirely depends on whether Brozovic signs a new deal, with an interesting next few weeks potentially in store.

Tottenham in mix for Ekitike

As per 90min reporter Graeme Bailey, a transfer update has emerged involving Tottenham Hotspur and red-hot Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.

The Lowdown: No back-up for Kane…

Alasdair Gold, a reliable Spurs correspondent for football.london, detailed manager Antonio Conte’s wishes to sign a striking back-up for Harry Kane last month.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-news-copy/” title=”Tottenham latest developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

They were long-linked with a move for Serie A star Dusan Vlahovic, but following the Serbian’s blockbuster move to Juventus, it appears Fabio Paratici must get back to the drawing board.

Alvaro Morata became a rumoured target for Spurs near the end of January, but now a new name has emerged in Ekitike, with the Lilywhites even sending officials on a recent Sunday mission.

The Latest: Spurs eye Ekitike…

As per 90min, Tottenham officials were spotted in Europe at the weekend as they cast their eye on one of Ligue 1’s most promising strikers.

Ekitike inspired his side’s 5-0 win over Bordeaux, opening the scoring just before half time, with Lilywhites representatives among chiefs sent by a wealth of other top European sides.

The Verdict: Make a move…

The 19-year-old is quickly making a name for himself in France, drawing comparisons with Paris-Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, and Spurs would be foolish not to at least consider a move.

Reims had accepted a bid totalling £33 million from Newcastle for Ekitike on deadline day, but after the talented teenager rejected a move to the North East, it appears Paratici may have been gifted a summer chance to swoop in.

Having scored ten goals whilst assisting four others in all competitions this season, Ekitike has also been called ‘quality’ by his manager Oscar Garcia (Ligue 1).

At such a young age, the attacker could certainly be worth keeping an eye on for Spurs at the very least.

Crystal Palace: Vieira handed injury blow

Crystal Palace have the opportunity to finish in the top half this season, currently just two points behind Leicester City and Aston Villa, but with Patrick Vieira planning for his final push in the remaining Premier League fixtures to secure a top finish, he may have been delivered a huge setback.

What’s the word?

As reported by Daily Mail, Wilfried Zaha had to sit out of the international friendly against England last night after suffering a grade two hamstring injury in training with the Ivory Coast.

The Crystal Palace forward is now very unlikely to be available for selection in Monday’s clash at Selhurst Park against Arsenal, as he reportedly was given an X-ray that has revealed the extent of an injury causing problems.

The Ivory Coast manager, Patrice Beaumelle, revealed further that “if it gets worse it is maybe six weeks or two months out.”

If it is that bad, it may mean that Zaha doesn’t play again this term.

Vieira will be gutted

With only nine Premier League fixtures remaining for the Eagles, the French manager will surely be gutted to have potentially lost one of his most reliable and experienced attacking threats in the team.

The 29-year-old has scored ten goals in all competitions for Palace already this season, with some of his strikes making an important impact on points won for the side. For example, there was a crucial second half goal scored against Norwich that pulled back a point, and a penalty scored against Wolves to seal a comfortable victory recently away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Palace also have a hugely important clash in the FA Cup coming up at Wembley against Chelsea in just over three weeks, and losing the attacker for the monumental clash that has taken Palace to their first FA Cup semi-final since 2016, could be a disaster for Vieira.

There will surely more clarity on the seriousness of the injury when Zaha returns to his club and is further assessed later this week, and the Eagles boss will likely call upon his other attacking players to complete the difficult challenge against the Gunners at Selhurst Park this weekend, no matter the outcome.

Rangers transfer news on Morelos

Glasgow Rangers are reportedly now considering selling Alfredo Morelos in the summer.

The Lowdown: Contract running down

Morelos is under contract with the Teddy Bears until 2023, but with no signs of renewing his current deal at the moment, he will only have a year left come the summer.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/rangers-news-2/” title=”Rangers news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Thus, his market value will start to plummet once that final 12 months starts to tick down, and so the summer may be the best time for the Light Blues to cash in.

The Latest: Could be sold

As per Football Insider, an Ibrox source has revealed that the club are now ‘braced’ for bids for their star striker, and one offer has already been ‘lined up’.

The Gers are set to hold out for a transfer fee of at least £13m, should they decide to sell him.

The Verdict: Hard to replace

Even if RFC got a club-record £13m fee for him, Morelos would no doubt be very hard to replace.

Described as a ‘menace’ by BBC Sportscene pundit Michael Stewart, he remains their top scorer this season on 19 goals, and has managed no fewer than 113 in total during his five campaigns at Ibrox.

However, his contract situation does put the board in a difficult position themselves, and if Morelos definitely will not sign a new one, then the Colombia international may well force their hands by letting him go in the summer.

Leeds handed Firpo injury boost

A key injury relief has emerged on Leeds United’s Junior Firpo amid his recovery from a knee issue…

What’s the latest?

BBC reporter Adam Pope has confirmed that the former Barcelona full-back is closing in on a return to first-team action.

The defender has not played a competitive match for the Whites since the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League on the 10th of March, but he is now set to be back for the run-in.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-leeds-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-marsch-raphinha-dest-philhay” title=”Read the latest Leeds news!”]

Pope Tweeted on Tuesday: “Firpo (knee) expected back in training today.”

Jesse Marsch will be delighted

This update will delight the Leeds head coach as Firpo’s return will be a huge boost for multiple reasons.

Firstly, it will give him more flexibility in his team selections. Stuart Dallas has started the last four top-flight matches at left-back and recorded SofaScore ratings of 7.0 or higher in three of those games.

This shows that he has been able to deliver quality performances in Firpo’s absence, but the Northern Irishman is able to play in a multitude of roles and the ex-LaLiga gem’s return means that he could be utilised elsewhere.

He can play at right-back, on either wing and in central midfield and this means that Marsch can use him in other areas of the pitch if required, as he will now have another left-back option to pick from. Squad depth is important for dealing with injuries and rotating the team and the head coach will, therefore, be buzzing to have another player back and available.

The Whites boss will also be keen to see how much Firpo can progress between now and the end of the campaign. He has averaged a solid SofaScore rating of 6.76 over his last eight games in all competitions, in comparison to his season average of 6.59 in the Premier League, and this suggests that he is slowly, but surely, making improvements in his game.

Marsch will be eager to work with him on the training pitch to continually develop the defender and get him into a position where he can be a reliable top-flight option at left-back. If he can do that in the final games of the season then that will put Firpo in a superb place heading into the 2022/23 campaign as he looks to nail down the left-back position in the XI.

Leeds: Paddy Kenny reacts to Michy Batshuayi links

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has been reacting to the club’s reported interest in Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

The Lowdown: Leeds links

The Whites have been linked with a move for the Belgium international in recent days.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-news-42/” title=”Latest Leeds United news!” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cropped-2022-03-10T184055Z_1834933207_UP1EI3A1FW561_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-LEE-AVA-REPORT-1-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Batshuayi, who is currently out on loan at Besiktas, looks likely to end his six-year stay at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Leeds one of five Premier League sides thought to be keen on his services.

The 28-year-old also has interest from clubs in Germany, Italy and Spain, while Besiktas are open to making his loan spell in Turkey permanent.

The Latest: Kenny’s comments

Talking to Football Insider, Kenny labelled Batshuayi as a ‘very good player’, describing a possible move to Leeds this summer as ‘brilliant’.

“He’s a very good player.

“He’s a striker who has been in and out of teams, you need to be playing regularly if you are a striker.

“You need game time and I think he would be a brilliant signing for Leeds.

“They need to strengthen in that area, that’s for sure. Batshuayi knows the league.

“He’s scored everywhere he’s been, that includes the Premier League and if Chelsea are willing to let him go then I’m sure he would want to sign for Leeds.

“You can’t rely on Bamford’s fitness and there isn’t anyone else there who is Premier League quality.”

The Verdict: A risk?

Batshuayi has impressed this season, scoring 14 goals in 28 Super Lig games, however, he has struggled in the Premier League in recent years.

He has never scored ten or more goals in a single Premier League campaign, netting three times in 34 appearances for both Chelsea and Crystal Palace before moving to Besiktas last summer.

Therefore, although Leeds could do with a new striker over the coming months due to Patrick Bamford’s injury woes, a move for Batshuayi could be a risk in what will be Jesse Marsch’s first full season in charge.

Not Haaland: Big name eyes Man City move

Manchester City appears to be one of the top destinations in Europe as yet another player sets his sights on joining manager Pep Guardiola.

The Lowdown: Eastlands attracting attention…

Sky Blue supporters could be excited by the number of star men allegedly eyeing a move to Eastlands, with promising reports having emerged in recent weeks.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/man-city-newest-updates/” title=”Man City newest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Starting with the obvious, unless you’ve been living under a rock, top target and Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Braut Haaland is reportedly edging closer to City with reliable reports claiming he has given the green-light for a sensational transfer.

Meanwhile, TUTTOmercatoWEB believe that, despite recent Haaland claims, that Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez has listed the Etihad Stadium as one of his preferable locations.

Now, it appears Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has joined the list, even if his club apparently value him at around the €120 million (£101m) mark.

The Latest: Nunez puts City ‘top of his preferences’…

According to Record (via Sport Witness), the 22-year-old ‘big name’ sensation has put City ‘top of his preferences’ alongside Atletico Madrid for a summer move as he sets his sights on joining Guardiola.

As well as this, he has turned to super agent Jorge Mendes for help, with this report claiming Nunez trusts the representative to ‘open these doors for him’.

The Verdict: Positive news…

City’s pull in the transfer market has only been backed in recent times by the plethora of updates listing Guardiola’s side as a priority location.

The Premier League champions, now also set to compete in their second consecutive Champions League semi-final for the first time ever, are seemingly only on the up.

Haaland’s likely arrival in the summer will only strengthen them further and Blues will be hoping that a star midfielder decides he wants to sign – especially after Fernandinho announced his summer exit intentions.
