Tottenham fans react to surprise Michel Vorm speculation

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to suggestions that Liverpool could sign Michel Vorm on a free transfer following the injury to Alisson Becker.

Adrian is currently between the sticks for the Reds with Alisson picking up a calf problem on the opening night of the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.

Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has admitted that Vorm has been discussed as a potential arrival due to his availability as a free agent.

The 35-year-old has made over 100 Premier League appearances during spells with Swansea City and Tottenham.

Vorm only played four times for Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season, which led to him being released following the expiration of his contract.

The 15-time Netherlands international is a very experienced goalkeeper, however, and could now return to the Premier League in what would be a surprise move.

The Spurs fans have been on social media reacting to the latest news – a selection of which can be seen below:

Newcastle fans laud Christian Atsu’s contribution against Spurs

[ad_pod ]

Steve Bruce has finally done it. After two rather frustrating performances in his opening matches as Newcastle boss, he has now won a game.

It came in rather surprising circumstances too, defeating Champions League finalists Tottenham courtesy of Joelinton.

Providing the assist was Christian Atsu who for the first time since December 2017, created a strike for his teammates.

The performance of the winger didn’t go unnoticed as many supporters took to Twitter to laud his display.

It was hailed as the 27-year-old’s best game for the club by one fan as another said he felt like a new signing this season.

The Ghanaian was called a breath of fresh air whilst a further individual said he produced a magnificent outing.

Atsu rarely has end product so the way he played was arguably somewhat of a shock. In his Premier League career, he’s only managed three goals and three assists.

Against Spurs, he didn’t even start the game, being introduced as a substitute after just 17 minutes for Allan Saint-Maximin.

Here’s the best of the reaction from his showing on Sunday afternoon.

Leeds’ Mateusz Bogusz celebrates his first-team debut on Instagram

The result hasn’t stopped the teenager from celebrating his debut on Instagram though.

The midfielder made no reference to the fact he was on the losing side as he simply captioned his post “first match,” with two emojis next to it.

It’s certainly a proud moment for any player to play a senior game for the first time, and hopefully this isn’t the last time Bogusz will play with the big boys this season.

West Ham United: Fans impressed with Declan Rice’s performance

Declan Rice has faced criticism from England supporters following his performance against Bulgaria, as reported by The Daily Star.

He was also given a rating of 6 by The Telegraph, who added: “Possibly a surprising selection ahead of Harry Winks, Rice does not offer the quality of passing of the Tottenham man but he is a disciplined performer.”

However, the statistics provided by FootballTalentScout dispel some of the things claimed, showing how instrumental he actually was:

It was also added that Rice made the most tackles and interceptions of any England player, though what will be most surprising to the doubters is that he made more forward passes than anyone else.

There weren’t many Hammers fans who were doubting him, so it is good to see this backed up with hard statistics – impressive ones at that.

As well as FootballTalentScout’s statistics, his performance was backed up by WhoScored, who had him down as the fourth-best player on the pitch with a rating of 8.1, behind Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Ross Barkley.

A selection of Twitter reaction to the statistics, including posts from supportive West Ham fans, can be seen below:

Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott posts on Instagram after England U17 success

[ad_pod ]

England’s youth teams have had unparalleled levels of success over the past few years.

They’ve won the U17 World Cup, U19 Euros and U20 World Cup. It’s fair to say that the future looks bright for the Three Lions.

Now, the U17 team has reached the final of the Syrenka Cup.

If you don’t pay too much attention to youth football and therefore don’t know what the Syrenka Cup is, it’s a yearly tournament that takes place in Poland for national teams at youth level.

England actually won the U17 version last year, and now they’re on the verge of another title after beating Austria 4-2 on Sunday.

The Young Lions’ squad could be filled with stars of the future, but there aren’t many names that fans will be too familiar with at the moment.

However, one player who many football fans should know is Harvey Elliott. The Liverpool man is the youngest player ever to play in the Premier League, and he’s played a part in this team reaching the final of this competition.

The 16-year-old took to Instagram to celebrate the team’s achievement and to look towards the final.

Man Utd fans slam FIFA 20 ratings for Paul Pogba and David de Gea

[ad_pod ]

The game that drives all football fans crazy, but still has them coming back for more.

The annual FIFA series has continued to grow over the years, and is the main staple for football lovers who are into their video games. Sorry PES fans, it’s the truth.

This year’s iteration is FIFA20, and whilst it still has a couple of weeks before it fully releases, the official ratings for the top 100 players have been revealed.

Manchester United fans understandably cast their eye over the two stars that featured amongst the best of the best, and it’s fair to say it didn’t go down too well.

Despite David de Gea and Paul Pogba coming in at 89 and 88 overalls respectively, Red Devils supporters flooded to Twitter to slam EA’s ratings system.

Many fans of the Manchester side questioned how Pogba could be lower-rated than Kevin De Bruyne despite being the “best performing midfielder” last season.

Some supporters vented their fury at seeing De Gea being given a lower rating than Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, and insisted the Spaniard has been “disrespected”.

Check out some of the furious reaction of United fans below:

West Ham’s Declan Rice disappoints Mason Mount in hilarious video

[ad_pod ]

Football’s number one bromance could be in danger of falling apart.

Indeed, we’ve enjoyed months of Mason Mount and Declan Rice’s antics on social media, but the relationship could be on the rocks as the Chelsea midfielder has a challenger for the title of being Rice’s best friend.

The pair took part in a challenge on England’s YouTube channel, and it caused a bit of a rift between them.

In a Mr and Mrs style quiz, Mount was asked to guess who the West Ham star named as his best friend.

Optimistically, the Chelsea youngster said that it would be him. However, the actual answer wasn’t what he expected.

Rice was asked to choose between Mount and Ryan Fredericks as to who his best friend in football is, and in the end, he took the easy way out.

Hopefully, this doesn’t affect the pair’s relationship too much as they’ve been a consistent source of hilarious material on social media, and who doesn’t want more videos of Rice screaming in absolute fear due to a prank from the Chelsea ace.

Leeds fans discuss Mateusz Klich & Luke Ayling contract reports

[ad_pod ]

The contract news is seemingly flooding out of Elland Road at the moment.

Firstly Kalvin Phillips put pen to paper on new terms after being linked to as many as three clubs over the summer before Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper also signed new deals at Leeds.

But it appears as though more promising news could be on the way. Leeds Live have reported this week that Mateusz Klich will sign a new contract imminently with Luke Ayling to follow suit.

Both individuals were key components of Leeds’ playoff run last term. Klich was involved in 19 goals while Ayling played 40 times.

There was a mixed reaction to the update as one hailed it as great. A further joked with the Polish midfielder about his penalty miss last weekend, hoping there was a clause in it to say he wouldn’t be off target again.

Another individual took a more critical look at the situation, suggesting the club shouldn’t go overboard on the lengths of their contracts given their age.

Ayling has yet to play for the senior team this term due to injury but Klich has featured in all eight Championship matches to date.

Here’s the best of the reaction.

Real Madrid’s predicted lineup vs Club Brugge in the Champions League

After a thrilling weekend of huge La Liga clashes across the board, the Spanish giants will now turn their gaze on the mid-week Champions League fixtures.

Real Madrid will welcome Club Brugge at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Tuesday evening as the Galacticos are looking to tally their first points in the ongoing European campaign.

Watch Spanish Football Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Their Champions League opener was, for the lack of a better term, a disaster as they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes. But Los Blancos have definitely come a long way since that clash and have actually been on a good streak, keeping three clean sheets in a row and staying undefeated in La Liga.

Zinedine Zidane’s squad is also starting to finally get their key players back from their injuries and that could affect his lineup against Brugge come Tuesday night.

Nonetheless, Zidane will need to pick a side capable of bouncing back from a harrowing group stage opener, so here’s what we think Real Madrid’s starting XI might look like on Tuesday night…

Thibaut Courtois is looking likely to continue his stay between the sticks and with three clean sheets in the last three games, the Belgian’s fortunes might finally be turning.

The Galacticos’ backline won’t really see too many changes. With Marcelo still a doubt for that match and Ferland Mendy also recovering from his injury, Nacho is bound to get another shot at that left-back position. Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane should start at the centre-back positions and Daniel Carvajal will likely retain his spot at right-back.

Many Madridistas will surely be excited about Luka Modric’s big return. Real Madrid’s Croatian sensation even featured against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium and now he should finally be ready to start a match once again.

Zidane will probably deploy him next to Toni Kroos and Casemiro in that midfield trident, a mixture of vision and physicality in the engine room.

Further up the pitch, Karim Benzema will probably lead the line as Real Madrid’s first-choice striker, and we’re predicting he’ll be flanked by Eden Hazard on the left and Gareth Bale on the right. Both failed to make their mark against Atletico Madrid but remain the strongest options out wide.

Rangers predicted XI against Young Boys for first away trip in Europa League

Rangers continue their Europa League campaign with a trip to Switzerland tonight and will hope to beat Young Boys in an attempt to overtake Porto as leaders of group B.

Other than a 2-0 loss to Celtic the Gers have started the season in good form, remaining undefeated in their other 17 matches, dating back to July for the Europa League qualifiers.

Steven Gerrard is rightly in a confident mood, and believes his side can “hurt Young Boys”, a comment which brought much amusement on social media.

The team should be buoyed by the fact they have already equalled the amount of wins they picked up in last year’s group stage – one – with an assured performance over Feyenoord in which they had 20 shots, suggesting they are better-placed to qualify this time around.

However, a key factor in their early exit last term was their poor away form, failing to pick up a win in visits to Villareal, Spartak Moscow and Rapid Vienna – so tonight could prove troublesome.

Here is our predicted line-up for the visit to Young Boys.

Consistency has been key for the Glasgow outfit this season, and that is reflected by the fact eleven players have made 12 or more appearances so far, despite the often quick turnaround in matches.

With that in mind, it is unlikely Gerrard will make too many changes to the side which demolished Aberdeen 5-0 last weekend, although Glen Kamara could come back into the side after featuring in their last European fixture.

The 23-year-old should provide greater defensive cover in midfield than what Greg Stewart offers. From his 11 games this season he has averaged 2.7 tackles per game and 7.5 recoveries in the opposition half.

That highlights the energy he provides in midfield, which will be essential to combating Young Boys’ threat, particularly Jean-Pierre Nsame who has 12 goals in 14 appearances this term.

Going forward, the front three have been effective in most of the matches they have played this season, with 20 goals and nine assists between them.

Morelos will typically have the responsibility of putting away chances, but after his stunning winner against Feyenoord at Ibrox, Sheyi Ojo could have another key role to play.

If the winger can find his best form he should prove tricky to deal with, as his record of 4.2 successful dribbles attests to, and should he combine with Morelos to get Rangers firing, then they have a good chance of taking something from the match.
